"We have to compromise to get better chances" - Akanksha Chamola

Television actress Akanksha Chamola recently opened up about the issue of the casting couch in the entertainment industry. She clarified that not everyone in the industry is involved in such practices and that many artists do receive opportunities purely based on their talent. However, she added that newcomers who lack a strong backing or a "godfather" in the industry and are eager to secure more opportunities may sometimes face unethical demands.

According to Akanksha, such conversations are often very direct. She claimed that after an audition, aspiring actors may be handed contract papers but are also bluntly told that they are expected to provide personal favors to a particular individual if they want the role. If they agree, they are offered the opportunity; if they refuse, they risk losing it. She emphasized that the final decision always rests with the artist, who must choose whether or not to accept such demands.
